Epic Works: Kirgski. Into the Valley of Ice

A ski season has recently started in Kyrgyz Republic. And if last time we were telling you about a group of skiers and snowboarders from Germany making a video of their trip to Kyrgyz Republic, this time it's a film by Epic Works, a travel blog by Rob Estivill.

The film about the trip to Kyrgyz Republic was published recently. A group of travelers including Rob Estivill, Severine Stemmer, Arnaud Pasquer, and Nicolas Valdenaire have visited Karakol, Kara-Sai and Ak-Shirak this time. It was an expedition called Kirgski (Kyrgyz + ski), as a post on the travel blog says, with the main objective to focus on first ascents in the 4,000 m to 5,000 m range, following the furthest possible valleys rather than focusing on the tallest, already climbed summits of the country. The expedition even has a separate website in French — kirgski.com.

This is not the first visit to Kyrgyz Republic — the first trip was back in 2014 and there's a whole section dedicated to Kyrgyz Republic on the website.

Kyrgyz Republic. A land of contrasts, of extreme juxtaposition of colour and terrain. Large lakes next to sharp mountains, extensions of grassland rub up against dry and arid plateaux.
— Rob Estivill, Epic Works

Epic Works is a travel blog run by Rob Estivill, as his bio on the website says, an aspiring skier and scientist, who loves travel, technology and mountains, living in the Alps, France.
