Kyrgyz Republic's Main New Year Tree Lights Up in Bishkek
Citizens and guests of Bishkek gathered tonight on Ala-Too Square to watch the annual lighting of the New Year tree. Hundreds in Kyrgyz Republic's capital watched with delight as the main New Year Tree in the country was lit up for the winter holiday season.
Mayor of Bishkek attended the ceremony and pressed the button to illuminate the 25-meter tall New Year tree with 1,200 toys, 77 national style lights, 60 LED stars, 50 LED snowflakes, and 260 lights on 2,6 km of wire.
The ceremony also had a concert, a light show, and a flash mob dance.
Earlier the New Year tree was actively discussed in social media. It was compared to New Year trees of previous years.
